Compounds with composition Ba5(AVO4)3Cl (AV = P, V, Mn) have been synthesized by solid-phase reactions. A
reversible polymorphic transition at 967 K and the thermal decomposition at 1436 K have been found in the
Ba5(MnO4)3Cl compound by differential scanning calorimetry. Thermal expansion coefficient of Ba5(AVO4)3Cl (AV
= P, V, Mn) has been determined using the high-temperature X-ray diffraction method. The influence of AV atoms
on the thermal expansion of the compounds investigated has been determined.
