Abstract
This article covers the main areas of the Russian Federation's information policy and the state's initiatives to establish an information society in the context of contemporary modernization processes. The focus of the paper is on the analysis of the source base of Russia's information policy. The authors consider the features of Russia's modernization from the perspective of introduction of information and communication technologies in the key spheres of government activity.
