| The opposition of principal theoretical ideas is analysed - in particular the theory of artistry - in A.Potebnya's poetics and in the doctrine of the formal school. We attempt to explain the reasons of the century-long incomprehension and unacceptance of Potebnya's theory of literature and, on the other hand, of the uncritical apologetic attitude of most Russian and foreign representatives of literary criticism to the Russian formal school. |
