The aim of the study was to develop a scale for measuring self-reported health satisfaction and to investigate its psychometric properties. Rasch analysis with the BIGSTEPS, Version 2.71 program was performed to assess unidimensionality of the scale (whether items measure a single construct) and targeting (whether items are of appropriate difficulty for the sample), to exclude misfit items and to generate a unidimensional score. A 48-item unidimensional questionnaire was created after several revisions of its initial variants. 700 healthy persons responded to the final variant of the questionnaire. The analysis revealed good fit to the Rasch model indicating that this scale was measuring only one construct. The proposed questionnaire is an unidimensional instrument with good psychometric properties. It may be used to compare self-reported health satisfaction in healthy persons and patients and to assess the efficacy of medical rehabilitation.
