| This article analyzes the opinions of Russian pre-revolutionary historians regarding the founding date of Gorodets. We consider the origins of the version according to which Gorodets was founded by Yuri Dolgoruky in 1152 and prove that this point of view was dominant among pre-revolutionary authors in Nizhni Novgorod. |
