Abstract
Eight of the eleven CIS countries have included the principle of ideological pluralism among the fundamentals of their constitutional order. This principle is a particular feature of the constitutions in the states undergoing democratic transformation. It rules out compulsory (state) ideology in the legislation of a democratic state.
