Abstract
A method to study medium dispersive properties based on active remote sensing and spectral-time analysis (STA) is considered. In this method, a mutual Wigner-Ville transform (WVT) is applied to a signal passed through the medium being investigated and a reference signal which is matched to the received one. The use of WVT complex features in the STA procedure makes it possible to get a higher frequency-time resolution as compared with traditional STA methods. The results of a full-scale experiment (at sea) are presented which show the effectiveness of the proposed method in sonar signal processing.
