The problem of noise immunity prediction is considered for communication systems using practical channel estimation schemes. The prediction algorithms provide the current estimation of the PHY layer immunity without direct simulation of signal transmission and reception. The predicted value can be used in fast channel adaptation schemes, as well as for PHY abstraction in communication network simulations. An original scheme to predict the noise immunity is proposed for a receiver which uses the most common practical technique of channel immunity estimation based on the minimum mean-square error (MMSE) criterion. The scheme proposed is valid for communication systems with single and multielement antennas. The model prediction accuracy has been checked for LTE-Advanced systems with the help of math simulation. |
