The osmotic resistance of erythrocytes (ORE) of 136 nonpregnant women and 10 men has been studied. The ORE of women depends on the menstrual cycle phase but does not depend on the cycle duration. The ORE of the men was higher than that of the women. An increase of the male ORE is influenced by androgens and that of female ORE is caused by the growth of estrogen and progesterone. |
