Species diversity of higher aquatic plants (macrophytes) of four water reservoirs in the Syktyvkar neighbourhood has been studied. 46 species from 37 genera and 27 families have been identified. Ecogeographical analysis has shown that in the latitudinal pattern, boreal species are dominant in the flora, while holarctic species dominate in the longitudinal pattern. In relation to moisture, hydrophytes and halophytes dominate in the reservoirs studied. The pigment complex of 34 higher aquatic plant species has been examined for the first time. Qualitative and quantitative composition of green and yellow pigments in the leaves of aquatic and coastal water plants have been defined. Alisma plantago-aquatica , Elodea с anadensis and Hydrocharis morsus-ranae can be used for bioindication of aquatic ecosystems.
