The article presents an analysis of the reception of natural philosophy essays by Henry David Thoreau (1817– 1862) – one of the most interesting and least understood in Russia representatives of American Romanticism – in the Russian literary consciousness and criticism. In the opinion of Thoreau, nature is one indivisible whole and contains the theoretical possibility of man’s moral transformation, which is reflected in the Russian literary consciousness. |
