Abstract
A method is proposed to restore subsurface permittivity profiles of one-dimensional inhomogeneous media by scattered-field measurements based on the Lagrange formalism in the solution of nonlinear ill-posed problems. This method enables the solution of problems in their natural statements for initial Maxwell equations. The method efficiency is demonstrated in numerical simulation of the retrieval of Earth’s crust conductivity profiles and the profiles of permittivity inhomogeneities in multilayer periodic structures by spectral measurement data.
