233-237 | census of 125/124 BC, proletarii, assidui, Tiberius Sempronius Gracchus, lex Sempronia agraria, agrarian law of 111 BC, tresviri agris iudicandis adsignandis, tresviri agris dandis adsignandis. |
The paper considers some new approaches to the problem of the census of 125/124 BC. The census demonstrated a significant increase in the Roman citizen body comparing to the census of 131/130 BC. Based on the study of literary and epigraphic sources, the author criticizes the hypothesis of a «demographic boom» in Rome as the reason for the agrarian reform of 133 BC. |
