Typical constructions used for building partitions between flats ? «cells» demonstrate as high as feasible absorption coefficient for both airborne and impact tests in the laboratory conditions. However, in field testing, the amount of noise and vibrations passing through one cell to another within the building structure will significantly depend on the intensity of a non- direct sound and vibration propagation coming through twelve flanking paths. To reduce the number of flanking paths between the cells it was suggested to use thin perimeter isolators placed along the walls of each separating partition. These isolators, consisted of bitumen, help to improve not only the sound insulation performance of cavity concrete constructions, but also affect on the thermal isolation between adjacent cells.
