| Tropical cyclogenesis is investigated with the emphasis on helical features of atmospheric flows of different scales which contribute into the formation of a large-scale vortex. Based on the American data on direct numerical simulation of atmospheric turbulent flows (with horizontal grid increments of 2-3 km), helical and integral characteristics of the velocity field have been calculated and analyzed. The practical significance of the obtained results is connected with using the helicity analysis for the diagnostics and forecasting of tropical cyclogenesis. |
