Abstract
Laboratory modeling of geophysical flows is one of the main scopes of the environmental science (physical oceanography). A novel complex of equipment and algorithms of flow images analysis for studying flows based on modern Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) is developed in the present work. The equipment was specially improved for using in experiments on laboratory modeling of geophysical flows. Laboratory modeling of the different turbulent flows and small scale processes in the boundary layer between atmosphere-ocean was carried out with new measuring technique. Two applications are described in details: 1) modeling of pollution of the coastal zone induced by submerged sewer systems; 2) investigation of the wind flow in the turbulent boundary layer over the wavy surface.
