The dynamics of a Josephson charge qubit excited by ultrashort electromagnetic pulses has been studied. The shape of electromagnetic pulses has been shown to significantly affect the Landau-Zener transition rates and the qubit excitation probability. A possibility is discussed of using the qubit as a quantum mixer of large amplitude electromagnetic signals and a device for ultrashort pulse diagnostics. |
