Abstract
The propagation of acoustic pulses through a double-negative medium is studied. The causality principle is violated for a non-dispersive medium. However, in the medium with resonant density and compressibility response functions where the envelope of the excitation area moves with a finite group velocity, the causality principle is observed. The steady-state regime is similar to the case of monochromatic signal propagation in the medium without dispersion.
