The article analyzes the features of the relationships between the King of Macedonia, the Council and the Army Assembly in the times of crisis in the later 3rd century B.C. The author concludes that changes in the political life of Macedonia, such as an increasing number of cities, the altitudes of the provincial nobility, the influence of Greek traditions, demanded a governmental reform. However, such a reform could only result from a crisis of power. Thus, the early years of the reign of Antigonus Doson are the most likely date of the reforms.
