Foreign policy competition in the region of South Caucasus has recently intensified, due to the growing interests of the EU (in the framework of its European Neighbourhood Policy), which are in conflict with the traditional strategic interests of Russia in the region. The article presents an analysis of the policies of EU and Russia in this region that may be viewed as a kind of a buffer zone in the architecture of European security, transport links and oil resources. |
