This article analyzes a number of most pressing problems of the philosophy of communication. We consider key trends in the development of the information society and their impact on the changing of the cultural and communi- cative space of the modern civilization. The signs of the so-called «communication revolution» are such factors as the increasing role of knowledge and information in the social development, a global spread of the mass communica- tion means and a wide spread of cultural meta languages, along with the destruction of the fundamentals of collec- tive identity. The most profound and comprehensive analysis of these processes has been carried out by such Ger- man philosophers of the 20th century as J. Habermas, N. Luhmann and K. Apel.
