| Passionarity is considered by Lev Gumilev both as a basis and as a mechanism of ethnogenesis. It is incompati- ble with indifference, it creates and destroys. This is a phenomenon of energy surplus, because only the passionaries can most effectively absorb from the environment the biological energy of living matter discovered by V. Vernard- sky, and lavishly spend this energy in the course of their activities. |
