The article attempts to compare two types of Russian philosophizing, one represented by A.S. Khomiakov, rely- ing on domestic spiritual tradition, the other represented by N.A. Berdyaev, justifying the principles of existential philosophy. It is shown that despite the differences in the views of the two thinkers, there are some similar motives in their concepts. The author makes the conclusion about the importance of the philosophers' works for a proper assessment of the current state of Russia and of the ways for its development.
