The paper contains a detailed analysis of the circle of events written down in the Old Rus' Laurentian Chronicle (texts for 1156–1263 which reflect the annalistic writing of Vladimir and/or Rostov of that time). Annalistic notes describe political and military events (55.8%), events in the princely family (such as births, deaths of wives and daughters, etc., 13%), building of churches (10.4%), changes of ecclesiastical rulers (8.7%), natural phenomena and disasters (6.4%), building of fortifications (1.7%) and very few other topics. The results of this analysis are compared with those of the Novgorodian annalistic writing of the 12th–13th centuries. Some observations on the possible correlation between the changes of annalists’ interests and the changes of bishops of Rostov are also made.
