The problem of automatically identifying surface flows in rolled metal sheets is considered to adapt an automated control system of a rolling mill for curable flows in the process of production. A model is presented that makes it possible to use the wavelet analysis in solving the flaw identification problem. The algorithm of the wavelet analysis is modified for a matrix-form analysis providing for the parallelization of the data. Resolution levels for curable and non-curable flaws are determined experimentally, ways of the on-line flaw identification are found.
