Abstract
The wave propagation in a plastically deformable thin rods that are sensitive to changes of strain rate is investigated numerically by back-characteristic technique. The developed option of defining relations, taking into account the effect of strain rate and built on a set of experimentally obtained stress-strain curves at different strain rates is used in drawing up a system of equations. The wave fields in the characteristic plane t ~ x are presented by solution of the propagation problem of elastic-visco-plastic waves in a semi-infinite rod. The numerical calculations are shown such experimental facts as higher yield strength, hardening, the effect of changes in the history of the strain rate deformation of the plateau are covered by the proposed model of visco-elastic-plastic flow.
