Abstract
Generalized synchronization in mutually coupled chaotic discrete maps is studied. The onset of generalized synchronization regime in such systems is shown to be detected by the moment of transition of one of the positive Lyapunov exponents in the field of the negative values. The obtained results are verified by means of the nearest neighbor method.
