A mathematical model describing self-excitation of boring bar torsional and transverse vibrations is presented. The model is predominantly focused on the cutting process dynamics. The stability of the system equilibrium state is studied using the D-partition technique. Stability domains and maximum depths of cut for specific values of the boring bar geometric parameters and various cutting modes are obtained. |
