The applicability of hot-wire technique for measuring the average and fluctuating currents in gas mixtures is considered. The characteristics of concentration probe developed in the ITAM SB RAS for measurements in the mixing layers at high subsonic and supersonic velocities are summarized. The empirical relations for the law of heat transfer at different concentrations of air-helium mixture as a function of Mach and Reynolds are obtained and the dynamic characteristics of concentration probe as a whole, as well as their individual components are defined. Examples of using a concentration probe to determine the average concentration in binary mixtures of gases, such as constant volume and constant pressure system, are shown.
