A fluid rotating in the gravity field has intrinsic wave motions (inertia-gravity waves). In the presence of shear flows, these waves can be trapped (localized) inside the layer of shear. The report presents analytical solutions derived in the framework of the linearized system and describing the structure of the trapped waves. In the framework of the ray theory of waves, the process of propagation and trapping of wave packets has been studied. |
