Abstract
Conditions of the occurrence of self-oscillatory modes are investigated for a liquid flowing into a flat channel with air injection into its muffled part and with the formation of an air cushion of elevated pressure. It is shown that characteristics of self- oscillations strongly depend on cavity volume. For an invariable air injection, the amplitude of self-oscillations falls with the growth of the volume of the cavity, and for its certain threshold value the self-oscillation stops. For strong air injections, a faltering (pompage) flow mode appears. A detailed study of the flow modes using a high-speed video-camera is described.
