The results of researches hydro- and thermodynamics of process extracting optical fiber are given. Methods of mathematical modeling of all the process, starting from dissolving melts in the furnace up to generation the fiber are developed, taking into account compressibility of air, heat transfer through the instrumentality of convection and heat conductivity, visco-plastic flow of the melts, geometrical and physical features of the furnace. The process of extracting an optical fiber has never been modeled before in such a full formulation. Based on the results of numeral experiments specific suggestions directed to improvement of the flow stability are given. These suggestions are related to upgrading the extraction plant.
