Abstract
Theoretical and experimental results of the investigations of magnetorheological elastomers with various internal structures are presented. These elastomers are used by the present authors in designing a safe energy-absorbing bumper for vehicles. The study is focused on the calculation and optimization of the strength and rigid properties of elastomers under dynamic loadings equivalent to the frontal impact of the passenger vehicle with an obstacle or a pedestrian.
