Abstract
The models that describe the nucleation and growth of defects in solids within the framework of solid body mechanics are proposed. It is taken into account that the nucleation of defects causes the redistribution of finite strains in the body. In addition, it is assumed that the nucleation and growth of defects may results in the origination of regions with other mechanical properties of the material in the body.
