Based on numerical modeling, features of cavern formation in soil-rock media during the penetration of elongated and segmented metal projectiles with the velocities between 2 and 7 km/s are analyzed. It is shown that due to segmenting of an elongated projectile, cavern depth could be increased by more than two times. The influence of a number of elements and the spacing distance on the penetration depth increase was studied. |
