Abstract
The paper deals with the asymptotic methods developed for constructing a mathematic model of non-stationary wave propagation in shells of revolution under edge shock loading of normal type. Short-wave and low-frequency approximations, boundary layers in the vicinity of the dilatation wave front and the front of Rayleigh surface waves are used. The scheme of the scopes of applicability of the approximate theories for transverse shear force is presented.
