New mechanical transmissions (reducers and step-up gearing) are considered that are based on using the properties of plane curves (epicycloids and hypocycloids) and, in comparison with traditional gearing transmissions, feature reduced volumes and dimensions, smaller weight, increased carrying capacity and durability due to multicontact linkage. The idea of constructing such transmissions consists in running by rollers of specially profiled surfaces of two bodies. The transmissions make it possible to receive the maximum transfer ratio in one step up to 500. The efficiency of such reducers equals 85-97 % and they endure fivefold overloads.
