Abstract
Shortening of continuous cylinders under creep is theoretically investigated, with and without accounting for the formation of cask form. The condition for the loading program which provides the minimum level of deforming energy is obtained. Experiments with cylinders made of aluminum alloy D16T under 400 °С show good agreement between theoretical and experimental values. Shortening of hollow cylinders with inner or outer fixing is theoretically studied.
