The main advantages of the method of acoustoelasticity for investigating the stressed state of linear and technological pipelines are revealed. The results of the experimental verification of the potential of the acoustical tensometry method are presented, using the example of loading a closed pipe by inner pressure (the analytical solution of the problem is well-known in the theory of elasticity). The basic disadvantages of the method in analyzing nondestructive testing of mechanical stresses in pipelines of real objects are considered. The results of experimentally studying the acoustic properties of the material of linear and technological pipelines are given. The possibility of evaluating stresses «in situ», in real technological pipelines of compressive stations, is demonstrated.
