A general system of equations is presented to describe the stressed-strained state of a mixture, consisting of a nonlinear-elastic material and liquid dissolved in it. It was applied to study the mechanical behavior and elastic properties of cross-linked polymers, containing a solvent. In the context of the general theory, the problem on the mechanical equilibrium of a non-uniformly swollen plane sample of polymer gel is formulated and studied. The exact solutions of the problems, describing the stress-strain state and configuration of the sample with various distribution of solvent, have been obtained.
