With the new experimental data relating to subsequent yield surface obtained through increasing accuracy of measurements in Mechanics there appeared unexplained inconsistencies in the form of principal qualitative differences in practical results for seemingly identical materials, samples and test methods. Hence, there appeared a gap between the theory of plasticity based on the concept of the yield surface and experimental mechanics, which cannot ensure unambiguous data for the identification of mathematical models of plasticity. The study has shown that the main cause of experimental inconsistencies is the effect of work hardening relaxation not taken into account in the experiments.
