A sliding contact of a rigid rough body and a two-layer elastic half-space is under consideration. It is assumed that friction doe not influence the contact pressure distribution under the asperities. The solution is based on the analysis of the periodic contact problem solution, which provides the function of additional displacements due to the presence of asperities. The connection between the contact density and pressure distribution is considered. Stresses inside the two-layer body are calculated, taking into account friction introduced by Coulomb-Amonton law. The effect of friction on the stress distribution is analyzed for the cases of the periodic contact problem and the contact of a rough indenter.
