The ability of Frode's pendulum to generate self-oscillations is usually explained by the presence of a negative section in the friction characteristics between the sliding coupler and rotating suspension of the pendulum. This work proves that the pendulum can also generate persistent oscillations in the absence of the negative section in the friction characteristics. |
