A process of impact of a snow avalanche against a vertical rigid wall is considered. Both qualitative characteristics of the process (the pressure, density and velocity distributions, the flow upper surface shape) and qualitative characteristics (formation of shock waves) are obtained by computer simulations. Compressibility of the snow and gravity are taken into account in the model. The snow is considered to be a mixture of air and ice particles. The dependencies of all characteristics on initial dimensionless flow parameters (ice concentration in the mixture, the Mach number and the Froude number) are presented. A degree of the effect of the values of each of these parameters on the impact pressure magnitude is investigated.
