The method to identify the properties of an inhomogeneous isotropic elastic layer in the analysis of steady-plane vibrations is proposed. Using the method of linearization, the problem is reduced to a one-dimensional coefficient inverse problem of longitudinal vibrations of a beam. The one-dimensional problem is analyzed using the iterative process, solving Fredholm integral equations of the first and second kinds at every step. Model examples of the recovery of the characteristics of the layer are considered, various aspects of numerical implementation are discussed.
