The author examines the concept of history of Moses Khorenatsi, a remarkable Armenian historian of the 5th century, and draws the conclusion that Moses Khorenatsi had an orderly, dynamic and coherent concept of history. In this paper, we look into certain defining features of this concept. Both narrative lines (an optimistic and a pessi- mistic view of the Armenian history), in spite of their initial contradictions and different systems of historical expla- nations, are parts of the author’s unified concept of history. The history of Armenia and Armenians is considered by Moses Khorenatsi through the prism of Christian philosophy of history.
