| An algorithm is proposed to restore the dielectric permittivity of an inhomogeneous layer of finite thickness by the amplitude reflection coefficient. In the case of a first-order discontinuity of the permittivity at the layer boundary, an integral equation has been derived whose solution allows the refractive index to be determined by the reflection coeffi- cient. |
