The authors analyze the way of functioning of the rebel movement in C?te d'Ivoire: the failed military coup in 2002 and its consequences, the types of violence in the rebel zone, the reaction of public opinion to the violence. The inner functioning of the regime is explored. Based on the reports of politicians, international observers, and non-governmental organizations, cases of violence during elections and post-election period are listed. The question is raised about the con- formity of the regime’s functioning to the norms of the civil society.
