Abstract
This paper discusses the role of morality in the development of law and state power. The concept of correlation of morality, law and power offered in the work by B.N. Chicherin «The Philosophy of Law» is analyzed. B.N. Chicherin’s idea of the nature of personal freedom as being reasonable and moral, of moral grounds of all human fields of activity and alliances created by human being, is emphasized. The conclusion is made about the need to pay special attention to the moral roots of the functioning of contemporary Russian state and law.
