Abstract
The article considers the main trends typical of the newspaper sector of the print media in Germany in recent years. The author describes the problems existing in the market of newspapers in the early twenty-first century and analyzes the possible ways of development of newspaper periodicals in the new age of information technologies. The problems of publishers supervising nationwide press and prospects of development of regional and local publications are considered.
